How long does it take? How many hours? Do you do it on site or inflate them elsewhere and take bring them over to the venue. What do you fill them with? How much does a filled balloon weigh? What amount of cubic space does a filled balloon occupy? Are you ever tempted to include at least one water filled balloon in an order that size? Have you ever succumbed to that temptation? I'm being so nosy to get an idea what the amount of time and labor goes into such a short but fun event. First. Thank you all who contributed info on the design/tech credits for the Republican Convention. Thanks to NPR I also finally have the names of the announcers at both the conventions (first time female announcers have ever been used actually in these). I have all the credits for the conventions and the olympics that I know of online at: http://www.artslynx.org/theatre/techstats.htm And on This Month in Theatre History I have the following designer tech anniversaries to celebrate in September: 42nd Anniversary of the birth of Adolphe Appia 396th Anniversary of the birth of designer, Giacomo Torelli 20th Anniversary of the death of lighting designer, technical director, Hans Sondheimer 88th Anniversary of the birth of Swiss costume designer, Lila de Nobili 95th Anniversary of the birth of designer, Charles Elson 13th Anniversary of the death of designer Frederick Fox 67th Anniversary of the birth of lighting designer, Jennifer Tipton 50th anniversary of the death of designer, Andre Derain 66th Anniversary of the birth of designer, Karl Eigsti 77th Anniversary of the birth of lighting designer, Thomas Skelton 13th Anniversary of the death of Theodor (Dr.) Seuss Geisel 57th Anniversary of the birth of designer, Ursula Belden 52nd Anniversary of the birth of designer, Andrew Jackness 14th Anniversary of the birth of Edward Kook, the "Ko" of the "Leko" developed by Century Lighting Richard F rfdesigns.org artslynx.org ------------------------------ Message-Id: <6.1.2.0.1.20040904162247.01a523b0 [at] incoming.verizon.net> Date: Sat, 04 Sep 2004 16:30:19 -0400 From: Patrick McCreary Subject: Re: Cheseborough ratings In-Reply-To: References: At 04:16 PM 9/4/2004, I wrote: >Kee Klamp and Holleander don't make cheeseboroughs - that is, they don't >make the double-clamshell rigid or swivel clamps that most of us call a >"Cheeseborough." > >Patrick Duh - That's Hollaender, not HollEAnder. For what it's worth, Speed-rail fittings are made of an Aluminum and Magnesium alloy, and Kee Clamps are made of Malleable Iron. The latter tend to be a bit thicker and heavier than the former, generally rated a bit higher, and are available in more sizes. Not quite as attractive, though, unless maybe you decide to buy the recently-introduced color versions. Patrick G. Patrick McCreary Ass't. Not hold a weight by themselves. And the post wasn't asking about Kee Clamps or Speed Rail. It was about Cheeseboros. Bill S.
