Are you willing to do 'Fences' or 'A Raisin in the Sun" or a similar show once or more a season, in order to showcase your minority actors, even if it means white actors will not have as many roles to play? I generally find that roles that are written specifically for black actors are very powerful and meaty roles, often commenting on the stuggles that minorities have faced. Casting somebody else in these roles tends to dilute the power of the playwright's message. In effect, the use of a minority character should be treated with the same respect as the text itself. If a role is not specifically written for or referred to as a particular type, then anybody ought to be considered. But roles written for a type ought to be given due care in casting. Hanneford, Zerbini, Hamid, Jordan, Ian Garden, George Carden etc etc etc these are typically promoted via phone rooms ( not as often as they used to though with new regulations ) and with lots of coupons ( Children Free with Paid Adult ! ) and of course Shriners "pimping" the tickets to friends etc etc. as for the Santa Show, there probably won't be a lot for you to do, , these holiday shows are designed to be able to play in venues that HAVE NOTHING, , they are usually pretty self contained and designed usually to be able to show up 3 hours before show time and be out of the venue in 45 min I can't guarantee that this is current info, , but my records here show the following.
